When one web site is just not enough
Most small businesses have a web site. Usually they are little more than a brief description of the business, its products and services and some contact details. For many businesses this is more than adequate. However, if the web is to form part of your core marketing activities one web site may not be enough. For instance, if you are selling alternative medicines across a range of disciplines you could build a web site with a page for each main key word phrase. Trouble is, you could have hundreds of pages across dozens of topics. That’s not really a problem unless it starts to get difficult for you visitors to navigate around the site. Another, perhaps more efficient, approach is to create dozens of sites - each covering one of your key areas. All of these sites can share a common order system and it is a simple matter to point to a ‘money’ site. That’s the one where you do your real selling. Here are some examples for Alternative Medicines:
- www.alternativemedicineinsights.com/acupuncture
- www.alternativemedicineinsights.com/alternative
- www.alternativemedicineinsights.com/aromatherapy
- www.alternativemedicineinsights.com/herbal
- www.alternativemedicineinsights.com/homeopathy
- www.alternativemedicineinsights.com/reflexology
All of these sites have been installed on sub folders for convenience. Ideally they could have been installed in their own domains and then linked together.
However the sites are linked, a quick look will show how they simplify site navigation and how they all point to a central money page.
For good measure the sites are supported by a wordpress blog - Alternative Medicine.
Whatever your business you could give multiple web sites a try.
